Merino Wool Meets Bamboo – The Future of Eco-Luxury Bedding - Material Update
We’ve taken our original merino wool bedding — the world’s first of its kind — and elevated it even further. The new bamboo warp brings a lighter, softer, and even more sustainable touch to your sleep.
Our mission has always been to create products that combine comfort, sustainability, and design. While the original organic cotton warp was already a responsible choice, bamboo simply takes it even further: It grows quickly without pesticides, uses up to 90% less water than cotton, and produces more oxygen than trees.
Bamboo requires significantly less water to grow and process, and it’s one of the fastest-growing renewable natural materials on Earth. Bamboo grows without pesticides or fertilizers and spreads naturally, which means less human interference and a smaller environmental footprint.
In addition to being kind to the planet, bamboo feels incredible against the skin — silky soft, breathable, and hypoallergenic. Paired with our signature merino wool, the result is a bedding experience that’s both luxurious and down-to-earth.
Why you'll love it:
- Naturally antibacterial & odor-resistant
- Lightweight yet cozy — perfect for vanlife, boats & home use
- Thermoregulating comfort all year round
- Less washing, more freshness
Whether you’re chasing the horizon or curling up at home, merino-bamboo bedding delivers that “ahhh” moment every single night.

The merino wool in IVAN bedding is knitted into a terry loop structure, which creates a generous layer of air between your skin and the fabric. This makes the sheets exceptionally breathable, temperature-regulating, and incredibly soft to the touch.
Why Bamboo Is a Better Choice Than Cotton
Bamboo grows without pesticides or artificial irrigation
– Bamboo grows naturally fast (up to one meter per day!) without fertilizers or chemicals
– Cotton, on the other hand, needs massive amounts of water and often pesticides
Bamboo uses less water and gives back more green
– Bamboo consumes up to 90% less water than cotton
– One bamboo grove can produce hundreds of new shoots each year without replanting
Bamboo absorbs carbon and releases oxygen efficiently
– Bamboo acts as a natural carbon sink, absorbing CO₂ and releasing 35% more oxygen than an equivalent stand of trees
Bamboo is naturally antibacterial and biodegradable
– The fiber’s structure resists odor-causing bacteria — naturally, without added chemicals
– The fabric safely decomposes in nature, unlike many synthetic blends
Benefits of Merino Wool & Bamboo Bedding:
- Refreshes simply by airing — longer wash intervals
- Heavenly soft skin feel
- Feels dry, smooth, and warm even in cool or slightly humid conditions
- Wicks moisture away from the skin — never itchy or sticky
- Naturally repels dirt, sweat, odors, and moisture
- Naturally grounding & helps you fall asleep
- Warning: positively addictive comfort!
Vanlife & Sailing — Practical Advantages of Bamboo Bedding
For vanlifers and boaters, this material upgrade brings not only better sustainability but also clear practical perks:
- Lighter weight than merino–organic cotton bedding → easier to handle when packing, unpacking, or airing
- Perfect for year-round use, especially in summer — breathable yet cozy
- Both merino wool and bamboo are naturally antibacterial and odor-resistant → bedding stays fresh even on long trips
Merino Wool–Bamboo vs. Merino Wool–Organic Cotton
Besides being lighter, the merino-bamboo sheets may even feel softer than their merino–organic cotton counterparts. It’s mostly a matter of preference:
If you love the comforting, weighty feel of a blanket, the original version gives you that cozy heft. If you prefer something airier and lighter, merino-bamboo is made for you.

Why Bamboo Works So Well in Bedding
Silky soft & breathable
Bamboo fibers are naturally smooth and round, while cotton fibers are rougher — that’s why bamboo feels luxuriously gentle on the skin.
Regulates temperature & moisture
Keeps you cool in the heat and warm in the cold — ideal for sensitive skin and year-round use (just like merino wool does, too).
Hypoallergenic & fresh
Resists bacteria and odors, keeping your sheets fresher for longer (like merino wool).
Lightweight & flexible
Drapes beautifully and feels lighter on the body than dense cotton.
The new bamboo-warp quality will gradually replace the original one, but for now, both are available. You can explore all our merino wool bedding here. For now, our merino sleep sacks are still made with merino–organic cotton.
Of course, nothing stops you from using merino wool sheets at home as well as in your van, boat, or cabin. We personally use them both in our camper van and at home all year round — just the duvet cover in summer, and with an inner blanket in winter.
They work like a dream — no constant washing or changing needed.
And the best part? That feeling when you slide into your soft, warm, and naturally cozy bed at night. 🌙
Wishing you full-body, blissful sleep,
team IVAN
